The Big Open House is a region-wide community open house event developed and championed by MCAR -- together with Detroit Media Partnership -- to promote the many fantastic homes available to local homebuyers.
The first-ever Big Open House, held on April 23, 2008, featured over 2,000 properties. Its goal:
- Inspire people in the area to talk less about negative market conditions and more about available houses and great deals
- Generate excitement among local municipalities
- Translate that interest into sold properties
The event spread out over six counties in southeast Michigan, including Oakland, Macomb and Wayne. Broadcasters as far north as Lansing covered it and REALTOR® associations across the country expressed interest in launching similar outings. It spurred a second Big Open House event in 2009 that achieved many of those same goals.
The Big Open House wasn't the first community open house event MCAR participated in. The association also played a pivotal role in Bloomfield Township's Bloomfield Living: A Brilliant Move.
MCAR hopes for many more Big Open House events in the future. Watch this space to see what we offer next!
