Please note: To receive credit for a course, students may not duplicate courses already taken during the current three-year licensing cycle (November 1, 2009 - October 31, 2012).
Real Estate Salesperson Pre-Licensing
This 40-hour course covers the fundamentals of real estate, including contracts, property ownership and finance. It also covers state laws, rules and regulations governing the real estate industry in Michigan are covered in this course. Students must complete all lessons in the course before taking the final exam. Successful completion of the program qualifies students to sit for the state licensing exam. Maximize Your Buyer’s Borrowing Power
This course covers some important topics related to finance and a buyer’s ability to obtain a real estate loan. L3096
Principles of Commercial Real Estate
Understand the different types of commercial real estate including office space, retail space and storage facilities. Additional topics include industrial real estate brokerage, site selection, land development and the effect of local and regional labor markets on commercial real estate. L3109
Tax Free Exchanges
Covers the basics of a tax free exchange of residential investment property. Topics covered include requirements of a tax free exchange, types of exchanges and the methods for transferring title when an exchange takes place. L3106

Legal Update 2008
This course will help you fulfill your legal continuing education requirement. It covers the Michigan Land Division Act and the Right to Farm Act, earned commissions, tax valuation under Proposal A, and Michigan Littoral Right. L5220
Legal Update 2009
This course covers the background, ruling and reasoning of the court in recent cases related to the Real Estate Minimum Services Act, the Michigan Broker, Lender and Services Licensing Act (MBLSLA) and cases related to easements and profits. L5476
Legal Update 2010
This course covers the methods of foreclosure recognized in Michigan and the causes and effects of Michigan's foreclosure crisis. The FDIC workout program, the Federal Home Affordable Modification Program, the Michigan Mortgage Modification Law, as well as provisions of the S.A.F.E. Act are also addressed. Legal updates include new rules for removal of lead-based paint and the recent changes to RESPA. This course provides background, ruling and reasoning of the court in recent cases related to riparian rights, delivery of a deed, and silent fraud. L5003.
