Thanks to this REALTOR® network, elected officials at the local, state and national level understand and appreciate the vital role REALTORS® play in the health of our nation’s economy. MCAR’s Legislative Luncheon event regularly attracts many of the region’s most notable officials, and its annual political candidate interview process identifies and supports those officials who support the industry.
A place to turn for professional support
Members can call the Legal Hotline (800-522-2820) and speak to a qualified attorney five days a week, receive professional standards help at MCAR’s office, take part in grievance hearings to address a variety of matters and receive discounted errors and omissions insurance. It’s as close as you can get to having your own personal legal staff without spending big bucks to do it.
Access to the education you need
Three times a year, MCAR’s Speaker Series features nationally recognized speakers at no cost to members. Previous speakers include Jerry Rossi, David Knox, Terry Watson, Dave Beson and Terri Murphy. Greg McClelland’s Legal Update provides important legal information to members. And MCAR offers all of the continuing education courses members need to fulfill their state-mandated requirements. MCAR’s monthly Metropolitan REALTOR® publication covers Association and industry news and events with exclusive stories, columns and full-color event photos. The weekly e-mail newsletter MCAR Reports keeps members up-to-date with late-breaking news and Association event information. Community outreach
MCAR feels strongly about its community, a passion reflected in the many charities it has supported, including the REALTORS® Association Scholarship Fund, Habitat for Humanity, HOMES Coalition, Toys for Tots and Rochester Area Neighborhood House. The Association also bolsters fair housing efforts through its Equal Housing Opportunity Committee, Living with Diversity program (partnering with the YMCA of Southeast Michigan) and support for the Southeast Michigan Coalition of REALTORS® for Fair Housing.
Continuing media relations efforts
REALTORS® received positive press for The Big Open House, a unique open house concept developed in an effort to get people excited about the local real estate market. MCAR is continually working with local media outlets to highlight the importance of keeping REALTORS® in the center of the real estate transaction. In a challenging market, the Association brushes aside the negativity to underscore the good news out there, too.
